Micha Thompson
“I now work as a Medical Writer for a global healthcare communications agency, which is a dream job for me. The university allowed me to realise what I was good at and what aspects of the scientific community I was most interested in. I was able to focus my honours year project on science communication as opposed to a lab-based project, which was fantastic for me as I never saw myself working in a lab or going on to do research-based further education. The variety of coursework that I did during my time at the university definitely helped me prepare for the job I do today.”

“After graduating I successfully gained a place on an internship with NHS Education for Scotland. This was primarily as an Information Analyst but I was fortunate enough to spend time in various other departments such as Recruitment, HR, Business Unit. My degree gained me a place on my internship, which mainly consisted of generating reports, such as COVID Reports, collecting lots of figures and then interpreting what they mean. This was very similar to the process I used to complete my dissertation, which I feel helped me massively.”
