Our accountancy degree offers accreditation from professional accounting bodies in the UK, Ireland and globally. In fact, we have the greatest number of accreditations available with any accountancy degree in the UK. If you would like to complete your professional training this accreditation will give you the best possible start.

In years gone by, accountancy graduates would have moved into very typical, and obvious roles in the accounting departments of organisations. Nowadays, roles are so much more varied, dynamic, and more important than ever.

Skills and knowledge in accountancy/finance, coupled with strong personalities and a confident way with people, makes accountancy graduates some of the most in-demand with companies of all sizes and across a wide range of sectors.

A large number of our graduates still choose to work for chartered accountancy firms/business advisory organisations around the globe. Many aim for the “big four” (KPMG, EY, PWC, Deloitte) but smaller to medium sized firms are also hugely popular with graduates, such as Johnston & Carmichael, AAB, Henderson Loggie, Grant Thornton and many more. Many graduates still choose to specialise in areas such as tax or audit, but these types of companies now offer a huge variety of roles, advising and supporting clients across multiple sectors.

We also have graduates working in banking, investment/fund management, insurance, and an extensive range of finance related roles across all sectors. As well as many choosing to work in the finance departments of education, local government, health sector and other large organisations.

During your studies you will have the opportunity to meet accountancy and business service firms on campus at various recruitment events. We have very strong links with many firms, and you will meet them as part of your modules when many support with guest lecturing. So strong are the connections we have, each year large numbers of our final year students have jobs secured by spring, 2-3 months before they even graduate.

“I was fortunate enough to secure an internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the summer between third and fourth year, which gave me a wider range of experience. It was also extremely beneficial as I was offered a graduate position starting the September after I finished uni, which I happily accepted.”
