In 2016, the Scottish Social Services Council commissioned researchers from the University of Dundee and Glasgow Caledonian University to explore the organisational, practical and subjective dimensions of professional social work as experienced by newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) over time.

Authored by Trish McCulloch and Maura Daly in our School from the University of Dundee, this is the fifth and final report of a longitudinal research study commissioned by the Scottish Social Services Council. It reports on newly qualified and early career social workers’ experiences of practice and the implications for professional support, learning and development.
