Teaching

The Module is delivered using a blended approach of face to face teaching and online learning. 

There is a requirement to attend all of the study days whether in class or online.

This course is taught by an expert, supportive, and multi-professional team including practising prescribers and pharmacists.

You will also undertake work-based learning within your area of practice, facilitated by a designated prescribing practitioner (DPP), and keep a log of your learning to form an academic portfolio.

In addition, you are required to log 90 hours of learning in your area of practice to achieve regulatory prescribing competencies.

Assessment

The assessment consists of written and practice components:

  • learning in practice portfolio demonstrating achievement of NMC/HCPC prescribing competencies confirmed by meeting requirements of Practice Supervision & Assessment including the Designated Prescribing (DPP)
  • completion of 90 hours learning in practice log.
  • systematic and detailed examination of practice (SDEP) - assessment of consultation skills by the DPP
  • pharmacology examination (80% pass mark).
  • successful confirmation of numeracy test (100% pass mark)
