English is a global language used for communication across education, business and international contexts.

Understanding how people learn the language and how it is taught are skills that are increasingly valuable. These skills are valuable to those seeking to work in global, multicultural or multilingual environments.

TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a globally recognised field.

It provides insights in various areas such as:

  • how the English language works in a globalised world
  • how it is acquired
  • how effective learning can be supported

TESOL, as an interdisciplinary field, is primarily focused on teaching. As well as this, it is also increasingly relevant to roles in training, communications, international development and education-related fields.

This course is taught online through various methods. The course can take around 1 year to complete, depending on your own circumstances. Most students study one module at a time.

Assessment methods are tailored to each module and vary depending on modules chosen.
