Careers for Psychology (Conversion) MSc

The need for Psychology graduates is growing. Populations are aging, societies are facing a post-pandemic mental health crisis, income inequality is increasing, and more and more data about our lives is easily available. In the current climate, the knowledge and skills that psychologists can bring to help address societal challenges is undeniable.

A MSc Conversion degree in psychology will provide you with skills and knowledge that can be used in many different types of professional careers.

• assessing and supporting individuals with mental and physical health problems (clinical psychologist)
• supporting children and young people in educational settings (educational psychologist)
• assessing and treating criminal behaviour in prisons and judicial systems (forensic psychologist)
• helping patients of all ages manage the psychological aspects of their illness and promote general well-being (health psychologist)
• dealing with career development in organisations (occupational psychologist)
• helping athletes and sport teams to deal psychologically with demand and to improve performance (sport and exercise psychologist)
• conducting independent or team-based research into pressing societal issues (research assistant; PhD researcher)

Each of these career paths requires specific post-graduate training in the UK. Our Conversion Masters degree can provide eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered membership with the British Psychological Society, which is an essential requirement for pursuing further study towards a career in any of the professional arms of psychology in the UK.
