PhD project
Multiscale glioblastoma modelling: from development to treatment
31 October 2022
About the project
The mathematical modelling of glioblastoma has a long history, with the majority of current models being focused on single-scale dynamics. This project with address the multi-scale nature (i.e, tissue-scale and cell-scale) of glioblastoma invasion, and will also explore the particular heterogeneous structure of the brain tissue.
The PhD student on this project will benefit from joint supervision from Mathematics, Neurosurgery and Clinical Imaging research staff at the University of Dundee and Ninewells Hospital (Dundee), as the project will combine mathematical modelling and analysis with imaging data from clinical studies, to make predictions important for neurosurgery decisions.
This project requires not only a basic level in ordinary differential and partial differential equations, but also a robust computational mathematics/scientific computing background (and preferably experience with actual hands-on programming in Matlab/C/C++/Python).
How to apply
31 October 2022
- Email Dr. Dumitru Trucu (d.trucu@dundee.ac.uk) to:
- send a copy of your CV
- discuss your potential application and any practicalities (e.g. suitable start date)
- After discussion with Dr Trucu, formal applications can be made via our direct application system. Apply for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mathematics.
