Biography

Xuemei joined the University of Dundee (UoD) as a Lecturer in Structural Engineering in 2023. She has a diverse educational background encompassing Structural Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. She obtained her Master's degree from Zhejiang University and Ph.D. from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU). Before joining UoD, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at HK PolyU from 2022 to 2023. Since 2016, Xuemei has been actively contributing as an affiliated researcher at the Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch) (CNERC).

As an independent principal investigator and a key team member, Xuemei has been involved in various research projects. Notable recognitions include the Outstanding Young Researcher Award from CNERC in 2021 and the Postdoctoral Fellowship (Postdoc Matching Fund Scheme) from PolyU in 2022. As a key team member, she also received the Commendation Merit Award in the "Research & Development Category" of Structural Excellence Awards 2019 from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Structural Division), and the Grand Award of Science and Technology Awards 2022 from the China Steel Construction Society, one of the top national awards for steel construction in China.
