Biography
Sharon graduated with an MA (Hons) History of Art from the University of St Andrews in 1999.
She worked at the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland initially as Cataloguer then Project Supervisor. Following a relocation to her home town of Dundee, she went back to her Alma Mater as Collections Support Officer before taking a career break to raise her family.
Sharon volunteered for University of Dundee Archive Services for a brief spell before embarking on a Skills for the Future traineeship based here in the Archive and funded by the Scottish Council on Archives. Sharon developed skills in Outreach, Community Engagement and Digitisation, gaining an understanding of current theory and best practice.
On completion of the traineeship, Sharon held the post of Assistant Archivist prior to that of Archivist. She graduated with a Masters in Archives and Records Management from the University of Dundee in 2019. Sharon is involved with all aspects of archival work to manage, preserve and provide access to the University collections. Other responsibilities include teaching, supporting visitors to the Archive searchroom and enquiry services. Sharon also works with community groups, devises archive-based activities for school groups and promotes the collections via exhibitions, social media and public engagement events.
