Biography
I am a GP by training and Clinical Teacher in the department of General Practice. I have spent the better part of ten years working overseas, much of that in developing countries, latterly as project director of a leprosy control programme in Bangladesh. As a result of my experience, I have a particular interest in Global Health
Research
Research interests mainly involve educational research into aspects of overseas student electives and also student placements in General Practice.
Teaching
I oversee the 4th year attachments in General Practice
I was involved in developing an SSC in International Health a number of years ago and currently lead the intercalated BMSc in International Health which has now completed two years. I am currently working on a programme to further develop the Global Health teaching throughout the core curriculum.
I have also been involved with Dr Jon Dowell in seeking to develop a new model for overseas electives through the MIMP programme and now through Responsible Electives.
