Lauren is the Medicinal Chemistry trainer for the Wellcome Centre of Anti-Infectives Research (WCAIR), based at the University of Dundee. After obtaining her BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2010, Lauren undertook a joint PhD in biochemistry with the University of Dundee and GSK (Cellzome). Her project focused on target validation studies in neglected diseases, with greater emphasis on the disease areas Human African Trypanosomiasis and Leishmaniasis. In 2014, Lauren began working for the Innovative Targets Group at Dundee as a medicinal chemist for 4 years. The groups’ main focus was on the advancement of chemical matter through hit validation to lead optimization on novel protein targets. Her interests now lie within training, focusing on the education and sharing of knowledge to those on how to synthesis, progress and prioritise chemical matter through the drug discovery pipeline.
