Biography

After graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc in Geology in 2006, Craig Davidson worked as a wellsite and later a development geologist for onshore oil and gas projects across Europe for 9 years. In 2016 he gained a MSc with distinction in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Dundee and was welcomed to the team as a Research Assistant investigating screw pile foundation solutions for offshore wind energy structures. This project allowed Craig to begin a part-time PhD in the same subject, exploring the design and development of screw piles suitable for offshore wind turbine foundations. The application of such technology would allow for faster and quieter installation of the foundations reducing operator costs and the impact of noise on marine wildlife.

Craig also continues to work full-time as a Research Assistant, focussing on physical modelling projects for industrial clients using the geotechnical centrifuge and other advanced equipment.
