Biography

Arun Kumar is a PhD student at the University of Dundee’s Department of Civil Engineering, working under the guidance of Dr. Masoud Hayatdavoodi. The project, that began in March 2019, deals with the numerical assessment of the interaction of wave, current and wind forces with floating structures using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques. The study aims to develop and implement a CFD setup capable of solving numerically, the effect of the aforementioned forces on a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine. The project is partially funded by the Scottish Energy Technology Partnership (ETP).

Arun holds a postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in Hydrodynamics and Ocean Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France, graduating in 2018, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from India. As part of his Master’s program, he worked on the applicability of re-analysis data in the assessment of thermal stability of the atmosphere. He has also worked as a Research Assistant at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
