Celebrating shared successes

We love hearing about the impact of engaging with work-related and work-based learning and celebrating our relationships with employers across the city and beyond! We’re delighted to be able to share a small selection of successes this past year...

“Ability to work flexibly was important and I think suited both the student and the organisation. The student was enthusiastic and we really appreciated the additional capacity [the student] brought to the team.”

“It was great to meet so many aspiring students and hear about their experience and interests. There was a lot of engagement from students which was great to see and so many interesting questions asked.”

Visit to the Tay Bridge

Students and our Careers Service colleague, Employer Engagement Officer, Samantha Riddell attend a site visit to the Tay Bridge March 2026 with Volkerlaser, students were given a presentation sharing insights into different career journeys and took part in a tour of site – climbing out onto the V Deck!

“We here at Dundee Science Centre found the experience to be beneficial. Our intern met our expectations and effectively collected and analysed evaluation data from our schools and public audiences. Our intern was communicative and punctual. We found communication from the University to be prompt and clear. Looking ahead to next year, we would be happy to host future interns as part of the module, following a similar impact and evaluation project as was undertaken this year.”

“ I’ve gained so much confidence…I think it’s a really valuable skill for any field…if you’re uncertain, I would say just go for it. The earlier you start the more experience you will gain…”

Anhelina, University of Dundee Economics student & SVP Participant

"We’ve had the most excellent experience...This is a great programme to get involved in. It’s very low admin, there’s not a lot of paperwork, the communication we‘ve had with the University has been excellent and we‘ve had the same volunteer come at the same time every week working with the same group of children and that‘s been a huge positive bonus for them, so definitely worth your while."
