This module provides a critical understanding of how to design and analyse studies of behaviour and attitudes in Psychology.

Topics covered in this module include:

  • psychological research methodologies
  • qualitative data analysis
  • quantitative statistical methods
  • communication of psychological findings

What you will learn

In this module, you will:

  • develop a critical understanding of the core research methodologies used for investigating different psychological questions
  • learn to use qualitative research techniques for analysing interviews and focus group data
  • gain experience of using statistical software to analyse experimental datasets
  • develop the practical skills to undertake independent psychological research
  • understand how to evaluate and think critically about psychological research
  • improve your ability to integrate the components of the research process into a written report

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • demonstrate critical evaluation of psychological investigations through applying knowledge of statistical analysis and methodological approaches
  • show originality, planning, and execution skills in the context of a research project
  • use advanced software products in the generation of reports, including conducting advanced statistical tests
  • develop creative or improved approaches to research questions in the field of psychology

This module does not have a final exam.
