Biography
Sucharita Nanjappa graduated in dentistry (BDS) from the University of Mangalore, India. She completed an MSc in Dental Public Health from the University of London and was invited to stay on to do a PhD, which was awarded by the University of London in 2012.
She was appointed in 2012 as postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Dental Health Services Research Unit, University of Dundee. She worked on multiple Childsmile funded projects including working with service designers from DJCAD to develop a communication toolkit (Chatterbox) to facilitate communication between socially excluded families and community dental health support workers.
Sucharita was was appointed Lecturer in Dental Public Health in 2014 and promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2020.

Teaching
Sucharita Leads the Dental Public Health and Communication skills teaching on our Undergraduate BDS and OHS programmes. She is Programme Lead for our Master in Dental Public Health Programme, and Master of Dental Public Health with Clinical dentistry (Advanced Entry) Programme. Leading on development, teaching, dissertation supervision, and assessment throughout the course.
She also supervises PhD researchers.
Awards
Sucharita won the University of Dundee Student Led Teaching Award for Innovation in teaching (2021-22)
