In this module you will study the structures of the human body. The thorax, abdomen, back and upper limb are the focus of this module. On-line material is used as a basis for 3 hour in-person practical dissection classes which occur three times each week. Flexible Thiel embalmed cadavers are dissected, allowing a realistic view of the 3-D anatomy of the human body. The module will also introduce you to attitudes and behaviour towards the human body and human tissues consistent with the current standards of professional ethics.
On completion of this module, you should be able to:
Identify all significant components and features of the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, lymphatic, endocrine, nervous and musculoskeletal systems encountered during dissection of the thorax, abdomen, back and upper limb
Safely use all common dissection instruments
Have developed learning strategies to begin to become an independent learner.
