Clinical Skills Centre

Since 1998, we have delivered innovative simulation-based education to healthcare students and professionals. We have evolved with changes in clinical practice and technology.

 The centre offers:

• traditional simulators
• a volunteer patient bank
• professional actors
• augmented and virtual reality simulators
• simulated ward and HDU environments
• primary care settings
• an immersion room

We deliver high-quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate learners from all healthcare backgrounds.

Available facilities

We have expanded to three linked areas. The central area includes nine clinical teaching rooms surrounding a large seminar room. These flexible rooms accommodate various skills, including two for communication skills training. Additionally, there is a resuscitation training room and staff accommodation. 

There are also:

• two large flexible teaching rooms
• two self-directed learning rooms
• a procedural skills room
• an immersion room

The Dow Clinical Simulation Suite includes:

• three outpatient consultation rooms with a reception area
• a six-bed hospital ward
• a High Dependency Area

This area has:

• extensive audio-visual recording facilities
• a control room
• breakout rooms for observation and debriefing activities
