Living Well with Long-Term Conditions (LWLTC)
Our research group aims to enhance the lives of people living with post-acute and long-term conditions to enable them to live well.
Knowing what matters and doing what matters with the people with whom we work is our key focus.
We work in partnership to co-design, develop and evaluate interventions and service innovations that support people to live well. We develop research that advances the understanding of how people experience living with long-term health conditions by developing , evaluating, and advising on the use of quantitative and qualitative tools such as interviews, questionnaires, ecological momentary mobile methods, and surveys.
We work with but are not limited to people who have stroke and other neurological conditions, post-ICU syndrome, long-term psychiatric conditions and older people with functional limitations. Our work is focused in three workstreams:
Improving Functioning, Recovery and Rehabilitation
We co-design rehabilitation, self-management, behaviour-change and lifestyle interventions focused on use of peer support, digital and rehabilitation technologies.
Health promotion and prevention of relapse and recurrence in long-term conditions
We co-design, develop and test strategies and interventions that aim to prevent the onset of preventable non-communicable diseases and to improve mental and physical health in vulnerable primary care populations
Understanding health-related experiences and outcomes
In this workstream we develop research that advances the understanding of how people experience living with long-term health conditions. Our research explores and aims to represent subjective phenomena related to health and illness, and the people experiencing them.
