The University monitors student attendance as part of its commitment to supporting students to complete their studies and attain the best possible academic outcome. We use the SEAtS app to allow you to register your attendance at centrally timetabled teaching activities.

Download the app

The SEAtS Mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices. We recommend you download this before your classes begin so it is ready to use right away.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, login using your University username and password.

If you have a username that doesn’t include your ID number make sure you enter it correctly.

For teaching activities on City, Ninewells, and Kirkcaldy campuses the app connects to Bluetooth beacons in teaching spaces. If your Bluetooth is turned off your app will ask you to turn it on before you can check in.

  • Open your app/calendar
  • Your smartphone will find the beacon
  • Click the Check-In icon
  • When it ticket turns green you have successfully checked in

Online classes

You should also register your attendance at online timetabled activities.

  • Open your app/calendar
  • Using your smartphone click the Watch link
  • Close the confirmation screen
  • View your lesson on your normal device (for example: laptop)

You can check in to your timetabled session up to 5 minutes before the start of the class and up to 1 minute before the scheduled finish time. Some workshops have been scheduled to allow you to check-in up to 30 minutes before the class starts.

You can see that you have successfully checked in by looking at your own attendance dashboard in SEAtS.
