An exploration of the skin and its natural hold on the body.
About
This series of works looks to explore the skin as a separate object from its owner. By separating the two, I aim to explore the ways in which skin is viewed. As a separate being, skin is alive, full of networks and connections that build up its inner structure as a protective layer for a body. It encases its owner creating a sense of security and protection. Through the use of microscopic sampling of skin as well as macro photography, I have created designs that replicate the shapes and forms found throughout the many different layers of the skin and by using tight fabrics and materials I have created a series of works which explore these networks and structures to create a bright and expressive reflection of what it beneath us all.
