"Every one of Scotland’s universities is committed to widening access to university to those who have the ability and potential to benefit from a higher education, irrespective of their background or economic circumstances." (Universities Scotland)
Our aim is to:
- Expand opportunity, achievement and attainment and so widen participation through carefully targeted educational opportunities, underpinned by excellence in teaching, research and guidance.
- Encourage those who might otherwise not benefit from Higher Education. Outline options and routes open to them and then help them achieve them.
- Influence local and national access policy and demonstrate commitment to inclusion through practice.
Contextual admissions policy
We treat everyone fairly and admit the brightest and best students, regardless of background. Our contextual admissions policy explains the factors the University will consider when applying a contextual flag to an application. We note circumstances that may have impacted your potential and highlight who is eligible for additional recognition and help.
