Employability is key to all degrees at Dundee Law School.
At the University of Dundee Law Clinic, you can experience life as a working lawyer in a supervised environment. You can develop your skills, work with the community, and network while gaining valuable practical experience.
Our annual LLB Alumni Mentorship Programme enables current students to gain advice and career insights from alumni working in the area in which they wish to practice or work.
Working with our Careers Service, student law societies and alumni, we run regular workshops and seminars to help students prepare for vacation scheme applications, assessment centres and interviews.
Student law societies are very active in both providing a range of social activities and peer-support. Dundee Mooting Society runs internal competitions, hosts the annual Lord Jones Moot and sends teams to compete throughout the UK. We also have some opportunities for students to take part in international mooting competitions, for which academic credit may be given.
We also run an annual Law Fair which attracts law firms and employers from around the UK and further afield. Law firms also regularly visit for recruitment purposes.
Dundee law graduates have gone onto secure training contracts and develop successful careers at home and abroad with leading law firms and top ranked Chambers. These include Freshfields, Linklaters, Clifford Chance, A&O Shearman, CMS, Kingsley Napley as well as at leading Chambers including Essex Court Chambers and 1 GC Family Law.
Our English LLB graduates have also reached the highest levels of the judiciary, including at the Old Bailey and the European Court of Human Rights.
Dundee graduates have also used their law degrees, and the transferable skills they have acquired, to achieve success in many other fields, including rising to the highest levels of the Diplomatic Service.
Our Careers Service provides our students with far more than CV advice. From 30-hour micro-placements as part of modules, to gaining academic credit for improving employability skills we'll prepare you for your future career throughout your time at Dundee.
You'll benefit from:
- Seven recruitment fairs on City campus each year - featuring around 250 local, national, and global employers.
- This includes our Go Global fair to help secure a summer placement abroad.
- Around 8,000 vacancies a year featured on our Jobshop website, for part-time work, graduate roles, internships, and voluntary jobs.
- A dedicated careers adviser, specialising in your subject, who can provide one-to-one guidance, application support, and personalised practice interview support.
