Megaloblastic Anaemia
Overview
Project Sponsor
- Dr. Sudhir Tauro, Senior Clinical Lecturer in Undergraduate Medicine
Medical Artist
- Eve Laws
Megaloblastic anaemia is a difficult subject for students to understand. The complexity lies in why exactly the red blood cells are larger in size, but smaller in number. Dr Sudhir Tauro wished to expand upon a diagram of his and create an engaging piece of material that clarified to students exactly why the red blood cells in megaloblastic anaemia are larger than normal.
Final Outcome
In July of 2021, the Megaloblastic Anaemia animation won Silver in the Institute of Medical Illustrators' annual awards. The artwork now features on their website and has been published in the winners catalogue, and Journal of Visual Communication in Medicine.
