ENT Examination Recordings with Animated Illustrations

Students are taught how to preform tuning fork examinations in the 4th year of the MBChB programme. Mr Richard Green, ENT lecturer, requested illustrations with animated elements that would overlay/enhance the prerecorded examination video and to further explain the bone and air conduction process.

Gathering feedback, students struggled to visualise transmission of sound via bone and air conduction (and the potential loss thereof) – a great hindrance in their learning, especially as they draw closer to completing their studies. The illustrations and animations were added to clarify the process in a visually engaging manner.

The animated illustrations were awarded the Silver Award from the Institute of Medical Illustrators in 2025.
