Pre-sessional courses

If you have not yet met the English entry requirements for a degree course at the University, we offer summer and autumn pre-sessional programmes.

In-sessional courses

Specialist English Support Module

You can choose to attend a tailored English support module for specific degree programmes, including students in the School of Business, Education and Social Work, Law, Science and Engineering, and Health Sciences. This is a credit-bearing module so will appear on your degree transcript. If there is a module for your degree programme, we will talk to you about it during your academic induction at the start of the semester.

English Language Support Programme

We develop your English language and academic skills with our 10-week programme. It’s free and runs in both semesters. All classes start in Week 2 of each semester. The subject areas are: Academic Writing, Academic Writing for STEM, Academic Speaking and Grammar Review. Fill out the Registration form here.

Language Clinic

English Language Clinic offers online or drop-in appointments to support international students who have questions about anything to do with Academic English including the structure of coursework, exam preparation, presentations, or just need some general language advice. We do not offer a proof-reading service.
If you would like to find out more about how we can help, please email the EIS team.
