Engagement on the Strategy to Recovery
The creation of the Strategy to Recovery has been shaped and influenced by engagement with both University staff and students, and has incorporated additional engagement from work undertaken in 2025 through the Scottish Government-supported Task Force, chaired by Sir Alan Langlands, and a Listening Exercise undertaken in August 2025.
In February 2026, the University undertook an engagement exercise to understand the campus community’s views on a series of proposed objectives for the Strategy to Recovery through an anonymous survey and a series of facilitated workshops. Qualitative and quantitative feedback was sought, and the survey was open to staff throughout February, closing on the 28th. The workshops focused on Education, Research and Professional Services integration.
The results of the online survey and the feedback collected at the workshops were evaluated by an external consultant, and the findings formed the basis of further work undertaken by UEG and Court to develop the strategy.
A number of core cross-cutting themes emerged from the consultation with staff which were invaluable in the work undertaken to shape the Strategy to Recovery. These included a need for financial stability and sustainability; consideration of income generation; focus on capacity and workload; governance and organisational culture; data, systems and transparency.
