Based on a US model, the UK Sales Competition aims to foster a deeper understanding of professional selling and its significance within the UK economy. Participating students are given a platform to learn and refine key sales skills and techniques in the context of real-world situations, and benefit from collaboration with employers as well as receiving mentoring and feedback from judges and sponsors.

Dr. Keith Dinnie, Associate Dean of Business and Community Engagement at the University of Dundee School of Business, said “We are thrilled to have provided our students with the opportunity to participate in this event. Engaging with external stakeholders is a top priority for the school, and this conference offered invaluable experience and immersion in the field of sales for our students. We eagerly anticipate strengthening our relationship with the conference organizers leading up to the next iteration of this inspiring event.”

Following two days of mock sales meetings and pitches, Dundee business students walked away with five awards in total. Kate Adamson and Kate Merriweather were recognised for their outstanding efforts in the Speed Sell challenge, while Louise McCleary, Kate Adamson, and Victoria Simpson received awards for their excellent performances in the individual sales competition.

Reflecting on the success, third-year Business Management student Kate Adamson said, “I am grateful to have competed at the UK University Sales Competition over the last two days and thrilled to have received two awards. Participating in the competition has been an enriching experience, and I've learned a great deal.”

Victoria Simpson, also a third-year Business Management student, said, “After delivering two pitches and receiving immediate feedback from four judges, I was awarded a certificate for my efforts. It was a rewarding experience to integrate my years of life and work experience with my education at the University of Dundee and be recognized with a prize.”
