Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference 2022

On Thursday 8th of September Dr Sean Whittaker and Professor Colin Reid presented at the Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference.

The paper focused on the findings arising from the "Uncovering the Environment: The Use of Public Access to Environmental Information" project, which was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

The paper focused on three strands of the project's findings.

First, the paper noted that the assumptions that underpin how the right is used (and who uses the right) do not match the use of the right in practice.

Second, the paper highlighted that this mismatch extends to how environmental information disclosed under the right is used.

The third and final strand considered the role and impact on "non-human actors", such as technology and the environment, on how the right is implemented and guaranteed.
