Research excellence showcased at 3rd year PhD student poster session

Yesterday, saw our annual poster session for our third year PhD students take place in the School. The event allows our students to present their research findings to attendees from across the School. The day was a great success with lots of insightful scientific conversations taking place.

First prize went to Azul Zorzoli from Helge Dorfmueller's lab in MMB for a poster entitled 'The role of rhamnosyltransferases in the biosynthesis of Streptococcus pyogenes GAC virulence factor. Second prize was awarded to Dominika Kwasna from Yogesh Kuluthu's lab in the MRCPPU for a poster entitled 'Discovery and characterization of ZUFSP/ZUP1, a novel class of deubiquitinase.' Third prize was jointly awarded to Elena Purlyte from Dario Alessi's lab in the MRCPPU and Meng-Ying Wu from Tom Owen-Hughes lab in GRE. Elena's poster was entitled 'Investigating how Rab29 activates LRRK2 kinase' while Meng-Ying's was 'Investigating the protein composition of PBRM1-deficient SWI/SNF complex in Renal Cell Carcinoma.'
