Business Economics with Marketing graduate, Kristina, reflects on her past four years

On this page

As International Student, I didn't know what to expect but I was determined to work hard and take on every single opportunity the University of Dundee and the Business School had to offer.

During my four years, I got involved in:

Volunteering

  • Marketing Intern at the Careers Service
  • Peer Connector Volunteer
  • Welcome Team Volunteer
  • Volunteer at Entrepreneurship Week
  • Volunteer at Wedding Fashion Show, DC Thomson

 Part-time jobs

  • Student Ambassador
  • Careers Service Ambassador
  • Events and Marketing Officer, Centre for Entrepreneurship

 UoD extracurricular programmes/modules

  • The Enterprise Business Challenge Programme
  • Leadership Plus Programme
  • Dundee Plus Award

I would say being part of the Enterprise Challenge was definitely the most beneficial. It helped me expand my network, meet new friends and  I even got a placement at Centre for Entrepreneurship where I had the opportunity to learn and develop skills such as event management, event planning and sales.

Taking part in a group marketing project which focused on exploring the student academic representation system at the University of Dundee was definitely my biggest achievement.  I have conducted a market research campaign, gathering responses from over 800 people.  The survey data and results were documented and presented to the DUSA’s executive team and my recommendations were taken to the University of Dundee Executive team.

I had lots of free time especially during the first two years of my course and I was looking for different ways to develop my transferable skills because at the end of the day we all have our degree, so I needed skills that will differentiate me from the competition.

University is a powerful networking tool. By putting yourself out there and grabbing one opportunity, you’ll open yourself up to so much more.  You’ll gain the skills that entitle you to do more. You might even get opportunities to travel, apply for jobs you couldn’t before, and meet some amazing people along the way. The possibilities are endless.

Don’t hide and have fun meanwhile!
