After an exciting four years of study, Elliot Shaw is celebrating graduating with a 1st class honours degree in Business Management.

It has been an extraordinary four years for Elliott where, since his second year, he has been undertaking the role of Commercial Manager with the Dundee Stars ice-hockey team. In his second year, Elliot undertook a work placement with The Stars, which soon led to a more permanent role which he was able to continue doing whilst at University.

Now he has graduated, Elliot is continuing his role, as well as taking on a similar position with Dundee Football Club.

“In my final two years I held the position of commercial manager at Dundee Stars Ice Hockey Club, enhancing revenue streams within the organisation with the main focus being on corporate sponsorship. The role allowed me to assimilate many of the theoretical teachings from the classroom into a practical setting, enhancing my overall understanding of the field. I would advise all business students to get out there and improve their practical experience. Moving on from University, I am going to continue managing the commercial operations for Dundee Stars whilst also taking on a similar role at Dundee Football Club. My aim is to stay within the sports management field in the future.”

We are proud of Elliot and his achievements but this is not the end of our relationship with him. The School of Business continues to support The Stars with annual player scholarships. Now in it’s 5th year, the scholarships allow a player to complete a Master’s degree in the School of Business, whilst playing for the Stars. We look forward to continuing our work with you Elliot!

“I would advise all business students to get out there and improve their practical experience.”
