Dundee first in UK to install latest Mass Spec technology
Published on 19 January 2024
The University of Dundee is the first UK recipient of three state of the art Orbitrap Astral Mass Spectrometers.
This multi-million-pound investment advances the School of Life Sciences and MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit’s capabilities in mass spectrometry technology, reaffirming its commitment to remaining at the forefront of scientific innovation.
This technology sets a new standard for mass spectrometry performance and redefines what is possible for discovery and translational research. With faster throughput, deeper coverage, higher sensitivity, and accurate and precise quantitation; incorporating these Mass Spectrometers will dramatically expand the scale and scope of future and ongoing proteomic and clinical research.
The ThermoFisher Mass Spectrometers purchase was supported by University of Dundee Strategic Research Fund, School of Life Sciences and Medical Research Council grant awarded to Professor Angus Lamond.
Thanks goes to all involved in the delivery and installation.
