The rankings are calculated from a number of categories including teaching quality, student experience, research quality and graduate prospects. Other subjects connected with the School have also been ranked in the top 5 in the UK. Anatomy and Physiology ranked 4th with Pharmacology and Pharmacy ranked 3rd.

Professor Julian Blow, Dean of School said, “These fantastic results show the excellent teaching and student support that is led by the D’Arcy Thompson Unit in the School. Their continual work to ensure all students’ needs are met is also reflected in the University wide student experience accolade. I also wish to acknowledge all the researchers across the Schools of Life Sciences and Medicine involved in the research-led teaching at honours level that underpins our degree programmes.”

The subject rankings follow on from the institution wide announcement that named Dundee as University of the Year for Student Experience in the 2020 Good University Guide.
