Chancellor’s Award for Jenny Woof

Winners of the Chancellor's Award must demonstrate enhancement to practice, and sustainable change and impact as a direct result of their teaching. Furthermore, their instigation, establishment and evaluation of outstanding teaching and support of transformational learning must reflect the University’s values and leave a legacy within the area of practice. 



Professor Woof’s work has had a transformational impact on teaching in the School, most notably through her contributions to the development of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences curriculum and in driving forward the development of a new suite of MSc programmes that incorporate biobusiness options in collaboration with the School of Business. Her leadership and championing of initiatives such as the accreditation of Life Sciences degrees with the Royal Society of Biology demonstrate her reach and wider engagement with the discipline. Jenny has shown a strong commitment to enhancing student experience and currently acts as Senior Adviser in the School. In the role of Associate Dean for Quality and Academic Standards which she has held since 2014, she has not only worked to uphold the highest standards of excellence in Biological and Biomedical Sciences degrees but also collaborated with many colleagues across the University, particularly in the process of review of existing programmes and the scrutiny of new programme proposals. Beyond the University, she has acted as an external examiner and reviewer for a number of Life Sciences programmes at other UK Universities.

Dr Beth Hannah (School of Education and Social Work) was named as the other recipient of the Chancellor’s Award.
