The Centre for Freedom of Information held its Practitioners’ Conference in August, attracting participants from those working on freedom of information in the public sector, as journalists, and in NGOs. The annual event is organised jointly with the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner and returned to an in-person format this year,  bringing well over 100 attendees to Dundee.

This year’s Conference theme focused on the positive impacts that freedom of information has had in Scotland. The impact of Scotland’s FOI regime was explored through a combination of plenary talks (including from the retiring Commissioner Daren Fitzhenry), a panel discussion with journalists and interactive seminars covering a wide range of policy and practical issues, as well as offering opportunities to network and share experiences.

Presentations used in the Conference can be found at the Centre for Freedom of Information’s Conference website
