The School of Life Sciences Annual Research Symposium returned to Crieff Hydro after a 4-year hiatus. It is one of the highlights of our School calendar, and the event was filled with two days of fantastic presentations.

The keynote speaker was Professor Ross Cagan from the University of Glasgow who gave a talk entitled ‘Fly to Bedside’. Principal Investigators from the School of Medicine were also invited with Kristina Hnízdilová, Mairi McLean, Sourav Banjeree, and Glenn Masson sharing their latest research. Talks were given by our Principal Investigators, Facility leads, School prize winners and selected Postdoctoral Researchers and PhD students.

Each evening a poster session took place with the following individuals were awarded prizes:

  • 1st Prize: Ruth Hernandez (PhD Student, MMB)
  • 2nd Prize: Rupa Nagar (Post Doc, MMB)
  • 3rd Prize – 3 joint winners: Abigail Brewer (PhD Student, MRCPPU), Lorraine Glennie (PhD Student, MRCPPU), and Findlay Munro (PhD Student, MMB).

The Symposium would not happen or be the success it is without Gayle Gray and Carol Urquhart for making all the practical arrangements for the Symposium, as well as the organising committee of Jens Januschke, Sarah McKim and Mark Field. Additional thanks go to the poster prize judges and the organisers of the evening entertainment (pub quiz and ceilidh).
