Announcing the Way Forward for Freedom of Information in Scotland

Following from last year’s Freedom of Information Conference ran by Holyrood events, Dr Sean Whittaker was invited back to chair this year’s Holyrood Freedom of Information conference. The conference proved to be significant for freedom of information in Scotland, as the Scottish Government announced their proposed reforms for the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 in light of the public consultation on the topic which ran November 2022.

Beyond this announcement by the Scottish Government, Dr Whittaker chaired panels which hosted the newly appointed Scottish Information Commissioner, a range of non-governmental organisations and public authorities, and supported in the running of a freedom of information-themed escape room.
