The LTHE course is designed for research postgraduates who are new to teaching at the University of Dundee.

Learning to Teach in Higher Education attendee
Completion of this course is a mandatory requirement for all research postgraduates who are teaching at the University of Dundee for the first time. To successfully complete the course, participants will be expected to attend five workshops and undertake a peer observation reflecting on a colleague’s teaching.
The course articulates with the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education (PGCAPHE), a continuing professional development (CPD) course in academic practice.
Who can apply?
Research postgraduate students who are teaching for the first time at the University of Dundee or who have been teaching but have not already completed LTHE. In exceptional circumstances, other categories of applicant may be considered eligible for the course.
As places are capped, priority may be given to applicants who are timetabled to teach in the semester in which the course is running.

Course outcomes
The Academic Skills Centre will issue a certificate upon completion of LTHE.
The course can provide a starting point for participants to progress to the Associate Module of the PGCAPHE, completion of which can lead to Associate Fellow status with Advance HE.
Course structure
All workshops are held in person on the City campus, on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 13:00. Please advise in your application if you are unable to attend any of the workshops.
