Enhancement of research infrastructure

On this page

The ISSF has supported our strategy to have innovative core facilities in key research areas and to develop computational and informatics resources that underpin our WT funded research.

Software developers have been appointed to develop computational and informatics resources to support the outstanding mass spectrometry-based proteomics facility in the School of Life Sciences.  Novel ways of managing, visualising and analysing ‘big data’ in the field of quantitative proteomics have been developed, in addition to a customised Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

ISSF has supported a physical scientist to integrate and develop novel illumination sources and beam shaping techniques for life science applications within the light microscopy facility. An Image Analyst has also been supported to provide project-focused analysis and data processing support for light microscopy.

Funds have also been used to develop a human pluripotent stem cell culture facility to provide quality-controlled human stem cells for a variety of interdisciplinary projects.
