Inside Forensic Science has been named Most Outstanding Indie Podcast at the True Crime Awards.

Produced by Adventurous Audio for the University’s Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science (LRCFS), the production has established a loyal audience by combining compelling crime narratives with expert analysis from forensic scientists, police investigators, legal professionals and academic researchers. Episodes explore how forensic evidence is gathered, interpreted and used in the pursuit of justice.

Since its launch, the series has examined a range of historical and contemporary cases, offering listeners unprecedented insight into the scientific methods that underpin criminal investigations. Through careful research and expert interviews, the podcast has helped demystify forensic science while highlighting its crucial role within the justice system.

Professor Niamh Nic Daeid, Director of the LRCFS, said “I am absolutely delighted to win this award for our podcast.

“We speak the truth about the forensic science used in challenging criminal cases of the past, bringing a modern perspective to the investigations of these often tragic events.

“I am indebted to Adventurous Audio and all of those from the justice community and beyond who work with us on the project. This award is for all of them. We are delighted that this approach has resonated with listeners and industry judges alike."

The award reflects the growing popularity of Inside Forensic Science, which has earned praise for its rigorous research, high production values and commitment to responsible storytelling. By bringing together leading forensic experts and experienced audio producers, the series has created a distinctive voice within the crowded true crime podcast landscape.

Pennie Stuart, producer and co-director of Adventurous Audio, added, "We're thrilled to win this highly prestigious award.

“Inside Forensic Science is a massive collaborative effort and wouldn't be possible without the time, energy, enthusiasm and expertise of an extensive cast of contributors.

“Creatively, it's a hugely challenging series to produce, carefully balancing storytelling and science with sensitivity to the victims of crime.  We're so proud to work alongside the team at LRCFS and are thrilled our collective efforts have been recognised by the True Crime Awards."
