Biography
Victoria Oziri joined the Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Dundee in February 2022. She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Dundee, where her research examined the mediating role of innovation in the relationship between risk culture and firm performance in the Nigerian insurance sector. She also holds an MSc in Risk Management (Distinction) from De Montfort University, Leicester, where she received the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship Award and was recognised for overall best student performance. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and has extensive experience in teaching entrepreneurship and innovation.
At the University of Dundee, Victoria plays a key role in designing and delivering entrepreneurship and innovation modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She has developed and led modules such as New Venture Creation and Business Models, Developing Scientific Enterprise, and Industrial Project and Report. She employs innovative teaching methods, including the flipped classroom approach, to enhance student engagement and critical thinking. Victoria is an active researcher engaged in several high-impact projects.
As part of the Centre for Entrepreneurship team, Victoria contributed to the University of Dundee’s success in winning two prestigious awards:

- ACEEU Triple-E Awards – Most Entrepreneurial University in Europe
These accolades reflect the university’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial talent and innovation, with Victoria playing a key role in delivering impactful entrepreneurship education and supporting student-led ventures.
Beyond her academic contributions, Victoria is committed to fostering enterprise and innovation within Scotland’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. She collaborates with organisations such as Elevator UK and contributes to policy discussions on SME support and innovation. She also serves as an External Examiner for the University of the West of Scotland’s Business School, supporting assessment in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Victoria actively participates in knowledge exchange initiatives, bridging academia and industry to drive impactful research and teaching. Her work aims to equip students and entrepreneurs with the skills, insights, and resilience needed to thrive in dynamic business environments.
Research
Victoria’s research focuses on innovation management, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and inclusive entrepreneurship, with a particular interest in empowering women and ethnic minorities. Her work examines how entrepreneurial and innovative environments shape business opportunities, drive firm performance, and contribute to social and economic development.
She has been actively involved in several high-impact research projects. In 2024, she contributed to a Scottish Government-funded study exploring the economic impact of women’s under-participation in exporting on Scotland’s economy. She was also involved in an Enterprise Research Centre-funded project investigating the relationship between business support, managerial practices, and SME growth, assessing how different types of support influence firm performance over time. In 2022, she worked on a Scottish Government-funded project examining the challenges small businesses faced in securing financial aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the International Public Management Journal and Risk and Financial Management, and presented at leading conferences, such as the Academy of Management and the British Academy of Management. She employs advanced quantitative methodologies, including structural equation modelling (SEM) and difference-in-differences analysis, to generate evidence-based insights that inform policy and practice.
