Mr Stephen Jones obtained his MBBS from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London in 1993. He completed Higher Surgical Training in ENT in the East Anglia region in 2005 and moved to Dundee in 2006 for his first substantive consultant post.

He took over the organisation of the years 1-3 undergraduate ENT block shortly after starting in Dundee and then became block organiser for Year 4 ENT medical students in 2010. He also became the NHS Teaching Lead for ENT later in 2010.

He became Associate Director of Medical Education for NHS Tayside in 2017 and then Deputy DME in 2022.

Previously he has been clinical lead for his department, lead trainer for postgraduate trainees in ENT in Tayside, East of Scotland representative and education convenor for ENT Scotland.

He is currently also Honorary Treasurer of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Regional Surgical Advisor for Scotland (East), Member of the Surgical Specialty Board in Otolaryngology of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Examiner for FRCS (ORL-HNS) and Senior Assistant Editor for the web site of the Journal of Laryngology and Otology.

He completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education with the University of Dundee in December 2014.

He has run the Advanced Temporal Bone Dissection Course in DIHS with otology colleagues annually since 2009.



Current Projects

I am at the final stage of writing up an evaluation of the use of software for management of clinical sessions within undergraduate clinical teaching placements for publication.
