Biography

Sam worked in Logistics for the Royal Air Force for 13 years in the UK, Turkey and Canada prior to relocating to Dundee. She started working at the University of Dundee in 2006 first in Central Technical Services before joining the FingerPrints Proteomics Facility in 2008 as a laboratory support technician. Her responsibility included high sensitivity In-gel sample preparation and MALDI-TOF-MS analysis of intact proteins. Since June 2015, she has taken on the role as a Proteomics technician, her responsibility involves various sample preparation procedures, cleaning, calibration and operating Mass spectrometer systems and data analysis, using various search engines. She is also the main user for the facility of the University’s procurement system, i.e. ordering parts and consumables. Investigating invoice(s), VAT, quotation enquiries and sending out tenders, in line with the university’s procurement framework in souring new products. She is also responsible for administration and accounts, billing internal and external projects.
