Nicholas Buckworth

Nicholas Buckworth was the first of the English lawyers to join both Milbank and Shearman   and was responsible for the development, growth and strategic direction of the English law offering of the Firm from inception throughout Europe and Globally.

He enjoyed a number of strategic roles whilst a partner at Shearman. He served on the Firm’s Policy Committee, an elected body responsible for the oversight of the Firm and was a member of the Firm’s Global Executive Group, responsible for the Firm’s global strategy. He was the Managing Partner for the London Office seeing the business expand substantially and profitably during my stewardship.

He was the Regional Managing Partner for EMEA and also the Head of their Africa business. Finally, he was head of the Global Projects Group in which role he was responsible for building and developing a market leading and globally integrated business.

He is currently a Founder of Altius Advisory, a boutique advisory business focused on the African continent. He is also an Honorary Professor at Dundee University and a non- executive director of A-Deus, a renewable energy company.
