Biography

Although I originally trained as a textile designer, I have had a successful career writing and illustrating children's books. Some of my titles include the "Poppy and Max" series and my "Lola" books. As well as this I have continued to draw and paint for various galleries and exhibitions and more recently have returned to my textile roots with my textile label: "Quietly Eccentric". This combines my love of drawing and screen printing into a textile context producing a range of bags, cushions and children's fashion.
Within the textile department, (and indeed life) my main passion is drawing and maintaining the hands on expressive qualities of the individual within an increasingly digital world and retaining these qualities when put into a design context.

Out with the university, I do many school, library and literary events in which I share my books and opinions on the importance of reading and writing in children's lives. I help with interpretation of imagery and storytelling and encourage expressive interaction with books and art.
