Biography

I graduated with a BA in Psychology in 2015 from Bogazici University, Turkey. Subsequently, I completed my MSc in Social and Applied Psychology with distinction in 2017 at the University of Kent. In my MSc dissertation I focused on ingroup members’ transgressive credits towards their leaders in political contexts based on the social identity theory of leadership. I have been a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Dundee since May 2018.

Research

My PhD research is in social psychology focusing on the application of social identity perspective to non-conflictual crowds. In particular, I investigate the social psychological basis and consequences of shared identity at the Muslim pilgrimage of the Hajj. My PhD research is funded by the Ministry of Turkish Education and supervised by Professor Nick Hopkins.
