Biography
Dave is a lecturer in graphic design and Programme Director of BDes(Hons) Graphic Design at DJCAD. He holds a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and a Doctorate in Visual Communication from Edinburgh College of Art.
Professionally, Dave has worked as an illustrator, a graphic designer, an interaction designer and has written a design book published by Bloomsbury Publishers - Interface Design: An Introduction to Visual Communication in UI Design.
Research
Dave’s main research area is in Peircean Semiotic Theory for Visual Communication. A full list of his research papers and various outputs can be accessed via davewood.academia.edu
Teaching
Dave teaches across levels 2, 3 and 4 on Graphic Design. He is also a visual communication PhD supervisor and an External Examiner.
