Biography

Ameer A. Basit is a workforce scientist with a rich blend of industry and academic experience. Starting his career as a software engineer and later earning an MBA, Ameer played a pivotal role in developing management information systems across various sectors including retail, education, healthcare, and textiles. This experience laid the foundation for his transition into academia in 2000. His academic journey culminated in a PhD in Management from the National University of Malaysia (UKM), marking the beginning of his research career in workforce sciences. His research primarily focuses on the dynamics of workforce engagement within organisations. Prior to joining the University of Dundee, Ameer held leadership roles such as Dean, Head, and Programme Director at various public and private universities in Pakistan.

Research

Ameer's research interests lie in the domains of workforce engagement, motivation, job performance, and positive workplace attitudes. He adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from computer science, social psychology, human resource management, and organisational behaviour. His expertise encompasses talent acquisition, retention strategies, and empirical studies on factors influencing workforce engagement. Leveraging statistical modelling and data analytics, Ameer provides strategic insights for workforce management to enhance organisational performance. His research findings have been published in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Psychology, Personnel Review, Ethics & Behavior, Leadership and Organization Development, and Project Management Journal.

Teaching
