Explore the role of politics, environmentalism and activism, the barriers and opportunities for effective solutions to the environmental crisis. This module meets both Institute of Environmental Management Institute (IEMA) and Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) learning outcomes.
What you will learn
In this module, you will:
- explore key environmental issues, principles and related ethics
- examine environmental legislation with a Scottish legislative context
- understand the operation of statutory planning powers and procedures
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- defend your environmental rights and ability to effectively galvanize around an environmental issue
- examine government and stakeholders’ responses to environmental issues through laws and public movements
- explore current environment-related conflicts between citizens, governments and businesses
- understand the planning procedures applicable to development plans and development management
Assignments / assessment
- 2,500 word essay (100%)
This module does not have a final exam.
